She has honed and tweaked the recipe so that all you have to do is follow the step-by-step instructions and Crusty Tasty Fresh Bread will be your reward.
A lot of people are nervous about starting to make their own Bread, and there are a lot of "Old Wives Tales" about the process.
The Truth is that it's easy, relatively painless and, I can assure you, very addictive.
I know a lot of people who never buy bread any more, because they have tried this basic bread recipe.

Basic Bread Ingredients

  • 300ml./1/2 a pint of water. (2 parts cold - one part boiling).
  • 450g./1lb. Of strong white bread flour.
  • 1 Tablespoonsalt.
  • 2 Teaspoonssugar
  • 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil.
  • A 7g./1/4oz. Sachet of easy bake yeast - USA - instant yeast.
Method
  1. Place all the ingredients in the bread pan in the order listed i.e. Water - flour etc.
  2. Select basic dough and press start.
  3. That's it - dead easy! Just follow the instructions from step 9 onwards.
  4. Now by hand - In a warm bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together.
  5. Add the water and mix.
  6. Add the extra virgin olive oil and mix to form a soft dough.
  7. Knead for about ten minutes on a floured surface.
  8. If you're making Loaves - divide the dough into two or four equal pieces and shape them any way you like.
  9. Place on a greased baking tray and cover with oiled cling film.
  10. For rolls shape into about ten rounds and cover as above.
  11. Leave to prove for in a warm place for 40 - 60 minutes or until doubled in size. making sure you leave enough room for the dough to double!
  12. Meanwhile preheat your oven to 200ºc/400ºf/gas6.
  13. Place the baking tray in the middle of the oven for 10 - 15 minutes for rolls or 20 - 30 minutes for loaves. They're done when they're golden on top and sound hollow when you slap their bottoms.
  14. Let the bread cool on a wire rack and you're ready to eat!
    So Good!
