The
Perfect Basic Bread Recipe
Thanks to Pam's hard work and
perseverance this basic bread recipe will give you perfect results
every
time.
She has honed and tweaked the recipe so that all you have
to do is follow the step-by-step instructions and crusty tasty FreshBread
will be your reward.
A lot of people are
nervous about starting to make their own Bread, and there are a lot of
"Old Wives Tales" about the process, but the truth is that it's easy,
relatively painless and, I can assure you, very addictive.
We'll be adding more basic
bread recipes as we go along. So keep watching this page and meanwhile

the ...... Basic
Bread Recipe

300ml./1/2
a pint of water. (2 parts cold - one
part boiling).
450g./1lb. Of strong white bread flour.
1 Tbs. salt.
2 Tsp. sugar
1 Tbs. extra
virgen olive oil
A 7g./1/4oz. Sachet of easy bake yeast - USA -
instant yeast.
Method
Place
all the
ingredients in the bread pan of your Bread Maker
in the order listed
i.e.
Water - flour etc.
Select
basic dough and press start.
That's it - dead easy! Just follow the
instructions from step 9 onwards.
Now
by hand - In a warm bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together.
Add
the water
and mix.
Add the olive oil
and mix to form a soft dough.
Knead for
about ten minutes on a floured surface.
If you're
making loaves - divide the dough into two or four equal pieces and
shape them any way you like.
Place on a
greased baking tray and cover with oiled cling film.
For rolls
shape into about ten rounds and cover as above.
Leave to prove
for in a warm place for 40 - 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
making sure you leave enough room for the dough to double!
Meanwhile
preheat your oven to 200ºc/400ºf/gas6.
Place the
baking tray in the middle of the oven for 10 - 15 minutes for rolls or
20 - 30 minutes for loaves. They're done when they're golden on top and
sound hollow when you slap their bottoms.
Let the bread
cool on a wire rack and you're ready to eat!
